Smart Relink - Is this an oxymoron?
The photo video project I am working on has 100 photos in it. Everything is already in the timeline. I have then decided to add a blur to all of them in a photo editor. Of course MSP7 wants me to manually relink them. This is a real pain. I don’t understand why it is so hard for MSP not to be able to figure it out on its own. The directory and file names have not changed. Am I missing something, or do I have to just repick every single file? Thanks for any help.

What I love is when you reedit a video clip (that you have as part of another a project) and save it as the same name. If it is not exactly the same length it will not let you relink it? You have to load up the video clip again (with the same name) so you see two on the production list and then drag it down. Quite frustrating; especially when I am using older software that will do an auto relink automatically!

I agree. The situation can get even worse if the Editor doesn't pick up the change automatically in the right way. Then you try to relink it and it tells you that it's already being done or something and that you need to undo the edit buffer. This then doesn't work, so you can't even do it manually. You actually have to close and re-open the program in order to relink your photo or media. Smart indeed.

Only my two cents worth..
I'm not exactly sure how this smart relink works.. but mine seems to work sometimes. A couple of projects.. when I have to redo a set of overlay avi's.. and when I work on the changes on all of em at the same time.. then go back to the timeline.. it says ***.avi file has changed.. relink yes/no? and I type yes.. it also picks up all the changed ones. Other times it just doesnt seem to work. Devil.. is there a way we can help the smart relink? Anything you've tripped across?

Non-linear editing is half art/half brain damage
