Hello,
I am using VS 9 retail version upgraded with patch. Windows XP Pro. DVD recorder is recognized and works fine within program when administrator accts are used but not when regular accts are used. DVD can be played in regular accts and is recgnized in windows explorer. Of note: Nero has same problem but Roxio CD creator v 5 does not. and any user can burn DVD.
Any suggestions, thank you
Brad

I don't think you have posted the question in the right forum. Your problem has to do with Windows access rights and their implementation. If you install a program and do not pay attention to who has got the rights to use it and/or which rights are explicitly given, this may happen.
You will have to find a way in XP to extend the rights of all users to use the burner and programs.

There are a few methods windows can use.
One method is "Right-Click" on the VideoStudio executable file and
select "Run-As". The next screen will tell you what to do.
The program "Nero" should have an executable file called "Nero Burning Rights" that affects burning.
On my machine it's located in the "Control Panel". I believe that Nero burning rights may also affect other users and other programs.
It seems to be more hardware specific than software.
Hope this helps,
MD
