sound doesn't match video

Post by tintytinyme »

hi, i am using DMF4, for some reason seems to have problem when i put six vcds in one dvd and the sound doesn;t match with video.

a second or two is late for video.

generally i found this problem with PAL VCD, when converting to DVD. my computer is for sure fast enough and enough mem, HDD space and speed.

it can happen at a time of making 3 discs and the second one has problem.

what should i do to adjust this sound?

thanks, or is this a video delayed problem? or neither, rather its a software problem. i have been working on this problem for tooooooo long.

thanks in advance anything owuld help!

There seems to be many different causes / solutions for this problem. Search the forum for "sync" and you'll find lots of discussion and suggestions.

In my case, the sync problems were caused by corrupt MPEG-2 files. The files played-back OK, but the "sneaky" corruption caused "lip sync" problems when the files were re-coded or re-multiplexed to the DVD format.

You may have a similar problem, as it seems to happen only to some of your files.

Are you editing the files? MPEGs are not meant to be edited, and in my case it was the editing that caused the sneaky corruption.

You might try converting your VCD (MPEG-1) files to DVD (MPEG-2) before using Movie Factory to make your DVD. One program that you can try is SUPER (Free!!!).
...my computer is for sure fast enough and enough mem, HDD space and speed.
Your computer's processing power is not an issue, except when you are capturing (recording) or playing-back real-time video. What you are doing simply requires "number crunching". A slow computer won't generate errors on a spreadsheet, and it won't generate errors in your digital video files either!

Hi,
Under "Preferences" on one of the tabs there is an option checkbox to
create an index file to correct some problems. You may want to try that.
Each mpeg1 file will get an index file.

I've had very good results by using the "Export" icon. 3rd down on the left
to convert between formats. (New feature in MF4).
I would export and convert each one separately.
I would keep the framesize at 352 x 240 since that is a dvd compatible spec and keep the data rate at constant 1150 or 1200.
Change the audio from 44.1 khz to 48khz and they are dvd compatible.
That would simply change the mpeg1 to a mpeg2 file with minimal loss of quality.
With all the mpeg1 clips on the timeline highlight them. Click on the export icon, select custom and manually set the parameters.
MF4 will convert all of them to separate files with appended filenames.
(This way you don't have to set the parameters everytime).

After the mpeg1 files are converted to mpeg2 start a new project and
load them in. I would burn a test dvd without joining them first to make
sure each video is in sync. If that works you can try joining them later.

Also, make sure to have installed MF4 latest updates. There were problems with previous version and VCD's.

Hope this helps,

MD
