Non-rectangular pictures

Post by Sandgroper »

Is there any way to create non-rectangular pictures in PI? I sometimes want to insert an elliptical part of one picture into another without the rectangular surrounds but cannot find any way to do it. :?:

I'm not sure I understand you, but do you use transparency/alpha or make objects? You can make any picture appear to be non-rectangular if you understand how to make areas/colors transparent and save in a format that supports this.

Instead of using the rectangle standard selection tool, use the elliptical selection tool. Surround the area you would like to use, copy or cut, then paste on the new canvas.

Here is a screenshot of tool you need:

Yes the elliptical selection tool is OK but when I want to save the selection as a picture I get a rectangular surround. I can save as on object but cannot subsequently change the size of the image/object to suit the size of the picture into which I want to import the image/object. Sounds a bit odd, I know, but I am trying to "hide" one small image inside another (in Word) & hence need to be able to adjust the size if the import. I can do it if I save as an image, but cannot get around the rectangular frame that goes with it. So it would be nice to be able to create a no-rectangular image.

Read up on TRANSPARENCY and ALPHA. That's what makes round icons and avatars you see on desktops and around the web appear to NOT be rectangular pieces when in fact they are. It's also the way some programs present a skinned interface that does not appear to be rectangular when in fact it is...

This is the only other advice I could offer
