First off, let me say you guys are great and I appreciate all your help.

I have Pinnacle Studio 8.12 on my computer as well as VS9. Can I transfer the "Smart Sound" files from Pinnacle to VS9, and if so how? Also can I us sound effects in VS9? I am still using the trial version but am ordering the real think today (hope there is more than the 2 smartsongs that download with the trial vesion) and deleting Pinnacle, and burning thebox.

Also, I have the "notify me when a repy is posted" but it doesn't work. Does anyone else h ave that problem?

Yes, there are definitely more than the 2 soundtracks included in the trial version :-)

I don't know whether you can transfer the smartsound tracks from your pinnacle installation. To try:

1. Open VS9 and click the Audio tab

2. Click the Auto Music tab (on left side of screen besides the Music & Voice tab)

3. Click the "SmartSound Quicktracks" button down the bottom of the tab area. This should open up a Quicktracks dialog - one of the tab'd pages is "Library" open that and then select the Add button and try and add your Pinnacle tracks...

Best of luck

I think there are 26 songs in the full version of VS9. As far as transferring the songs from another program, I would wait till you have the full version of VS9 since you might find there is almost total overlap between the titles on both program. At least, it seems to me that the songs available in Pinnacle Studio 10 are much the same as the ones in VS9 (and, for that matter, Cyberlink Power Director 5). But I don't know about Pinnacle 8.

And a word of advice: if you have the patience, order the boxed version of VS9 or find one in a local shop. The downloaded version is of course huge (there are two CDs in the boxed version). And an awful lot of people seem to have experienced quite a variety of problems in both downloading and then installing (and getting to work) the ESD version.
