Best way to achive this
Captured Hi-8 and converted to MPG as training 1, training 2, Training 3, etc . Added external subtitles [as SUB] to key portions of training video. How do I add this subtitles as a selectable subtitle to the dvd and allowing on/off when needed. Which product is a faster and better way, as the training video changes frequently to meet up to new State trooper tasks. Something fast and quick is needed without so much of configurations of menus [some is fine].
Not sure what program you used to record the video(s).
If MovieFactory what version?
MovieFactory doesn't have sub-titling features. Ulead Dvd WorkShop does($$$).
With MF you can add external audio tracks to a video (narration like I think you have done) using the "Enhance" Video Icon in MF.
VideoStudio 9 doesn't have sub-titling but after you learn the program replacing the original audio with a new track or overlaying/adding new audio is simple.
VS9 also uses a simple menuing system.
If you can do without sub-titles and just use a standard audio track probably Video_Studio_9 would be better than MovieFactory for your needs. Both programs can use Dolby 2/0 audio.
With VS9 you can record a new audio track right on the timeline.
