Post by EXCELSTOR »

Hi can anyone help please
Canon Digital Video Camera
VS 8 settings in the capture tab set to PAL.
when VS8 starts in the details area below the image capture screen it shows the camera as NTSC ??
sometimes if you turn off camera & back on again ( 5 times on average)
it will reverte back to PAL.

I had this happen to me with my very first Ulead product several years ago. Now, with every Ulead product I install, I very carefully, during the installation process, do the following when I am presented with the choice of EITHER choosing your country OR indicating your TV system. First, I choose my country. Then I also check the TV system box. This greys out the 'choice of country' selection you have made, but you will see that your country nevertheless remains highlighted. I have never had a repeat of the problem.

Short of doing a complete reinstall, however, you might want to check your defaults in the Project Properties templates (making sure various settings therein are set to PAL -- Select File > Project Properties > Edit to do that). And you might want to check to see what is selected under File > Preferences > Edit at the top of that screen, where again you have the choice of PAL or NTSC.

It's odd that after a few resets it will revert back to APL. If it was the following problem then it wouldn't do that, but I thought I'd let you know just in case.
I'm thinking Ken is maybe right.
A link, though, here

:) problem solved (i think)
it seems to work ok if you start vs8 then plugin & switch on camera.
if you let the windows "choose apllication" dialogue box launch then the problem starts.
