Error when Capturing from DVD

Post by Nealo »

When I Capture from DVD I get the following error message:
Failed to read DVD information
Report ID: 0x80040901(2305)

I have had this problem before and reinstalled VideoStudio and it fixed it. This time I reinstalled and the problem still exists.

Can anyone suggest any patches or help with this error?

If it's a commercial DVD rather than a home produced one, it may be
copy protected.

Thanks for the quick reply Steve.

No, it is not a commercial DVD but a 'home-made' one.

The lowdown is: I work for a Harness Racing Authority and we get the DVD from the broadcast company. Each week I cut the individual files/races down to the last lap and compress it for display on the internet.

I am testing it with a DVD that worked fine in VideoStudio 9.0 last week. The problems started when I put in this weeks DVD it came up with the error message and locked the DVD drive. Now it is doing it with the disc that was OK last week.

I have restarted and reinstalled numerous times with no success.

A possible fix is to copy the VOB files to your hard drive and rename them to MPG. The VOB files are in fact MPEG2 files.
