upgrade from VS8 to VS9, no un-installer for VS9

Post by JimK »

Was curious, I have been using Video studio since version 5 and have never had so many problems running Video since upgrading to 9. First off, all previous versions of VS always had an uninstaller to fix problems or uninstall altogether.
Since I upgraded to 9 using the DL from element I can`t find any sort of
unistaller anywhere on my computer for VS9.

On top of it crashing everytime I capture DV video, keep getting ntdll errors.
I completely uninstalled VS8 to make sureit wasn`t causing verison errors.
But no joy, everytime I try and capture or edit video it crashes with the
famous ntdll error and I must restart. :x Extrememly fustrating to hace to
go through this to edit any video or capture.

To make matters worse, Uleads support website does not return emails.
So the only real support I can find is in here.

Run the installer again, It normally then gives you an option to uninstall the existing version.

I would also be very surprised if VS9 was not listed in Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Software. You also need to be aware that by removing VS8, you apparently remove some files which are needed by VS9, so with your version, you also need to do a full reinstall. (With the boxed version, you can use the disc to do a Repair, but this is not possible with downloaded versions.)

To comment any further, though, we would need to know something about the camera you are trying to capture DV from, how it is connected to your computer, and also what your computer specifications are, including operating system and hard disc space...

It was not listed in the control panel add/remove panel. It wasn`t anywhere. I did find VS8 in the control panel and un-installed it totally. But like always the un-installer leaves more then half the old program behind.

As for VS9, Could not install it again since the installer already detected I
have it installed. So I had to manually remove the entire VS9. I then re-installed VS9 after making it was totally removed from my Ulead folder
and making sure sure VS8 was remeoved to. Installation went good this
time and I have the un-installer in my control panel/ add/remove now.

Do you think that having VS8 installed somehow overwrote the un-installer
for VS9 ?

Now to get time to test it out and see if I keep the getting the dreaded
ntdll error evertime I try and capture DV or edit any video.
