Hello
My initial findings, (unless I've missed something), is that the only
way you can have a short Video Clip as a background (25 secs or less),
is to 'ENABLE' (put a check), in 'Motion Menu'
With these results, enabling 'Motion Menu' for the Framed Chapters as well, produces an 'unsteady' Video Background that I created. Again unless I'm missing something, it looks as though it might be asking too much of Movie Factory capabilities?
Note that I can create the short movie clip background to any format file that's most desirable for this to work properly. (If it will work at all)
Currently this particular clip is an AVI (about 25 seconds)
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Mike
Still Menu Frames (with) Video as a Background?
If you're talking about MF, you would stand a better chance if you asked your question on the MF board!

Getting closer
Thanx Steve
Limme understand this:
As with many Preview Screens in other Movie Editors, 'yes' the Preview functions use a lot of system resources, thereby making the Preview appear glitchy (but not on the finnished DVD disc)
Ok so far so good - understood
But I was also asking about DVD Workshop's ability to create
STILL CHAPTER FRAMES (No Motion), yet with an AVI, or MPEG
inserted for a Background Clip - know what I mean?
It would appear (unless I'm missing something), that the only way to get a movie clip to play as a background, would be to 'ENABLE' (put a check), in 'Motion Menu'
If that's the case (unless I'm missing something), now your also stuck with Motion Menu Chapters (as well)
Any ideas here
Thanx again

Hello and thank you:
"Are you trying to have a motion background with still thumbnails (in DVD WS 2.x)"
Yes - but I was also trying to use an actual chapter 'Frame' as the thumbnail image with a particular movie clip as the background.
BTW - if this is possible, then the particular 25 second movie clip (with sound as ONE clip), should be created as what type of file?
MPEG - AVI - WMV ?
Thanx again

Sorry thought you were using MF4.
You have even more control in WS2 and can start from a blank screen.
You can have
A motion background with still buttons
A still background with motion buttons
A still background with still buttons
A Motion background with motion buttons
You can also have backgrounds motion or still where some buttons have motion and others do not.
Total control.
If you're interested in this product there is a deal on at the moment for a training video

It walks you through everything you can do and how to do it. It will be a real eye opener, it will tell you how to do things you didn't even know could be done.
Regarding your original question though, same reply, the preview is what it says, a preview so it will be chunky. The finished item will be vstly better.
Regards
Steve J

Yes, you can select a frame to use as the Still Thumbnail.enigmacode wrote:Hello and thank you:

And since the motion menu will be rendered by DWS, you should start with the best possible (considering your source). So, if it was from dv .avi, then leave it as dv .avi and let DWS encode the menu.
