VS 8 Editing

Post by sussertown »

After several years and several computers I gave up the brain damage and bought a self-standing recorder. I successfully recorded from a camcorder to a dvd+rw. when I try to bring it into VS I get no sound. The material that I collected in the past all had to do with direct transfers. I now would like instruction for transferring from the completed DVD+RW so I can edit it. Thank you.

OK, I'll bite :)

From your post I have to assume that you were able to successfully import a video file from the DVD+RW into VS8. If this is the case, right click on the imported file and see what the audio properties are. Please post them. Also, by some chance does the camcorder or your self-standing recorder use Dolby as audio? If it does VS8 doesn't support Dobly (AC3) without a plug-in.

AC3

Post by sussertown »

I can do this later, but for now I would like to say that the issue of AC3 DID come up at some point. Roxio gave me an unequivcal warning and I though I saw something less obvious in VS. Where do I get the plugin?

Don't buy the plug in. the cost is almost the same as an upgrade to Version 9 which already has the plug in built in. A much better bargain.

plug in

Thank you. I understand. Part of the brain damage comes form constantly upgrading to programs that have not solved problems in past. If you don't mind, could you please tell me a little about the insatll of these plugins as I have seen some on the internet that are free, but I'm not sure if they would operate in UVS. Also, I may be able to find one at a reduced cost. Thank you.

There is a good bundle deal on at the moment
VideoStudio 9 + PhotoImpact 11 Bundle

£59.99
You dont use a plug in for AC3 with Version 9, it is built in.
There are plenty of free plug ins for video filters and audio filters on the internet. Heres a topic about a FREE countdown timer

How

If I download a plugin for AC3, how do I put it in VS8? I looked at the plugins in the folder as it sits and they all look like visual art plugins.

I did a search on the internet and all the AC3 plug ins I found were specific to one piece of software. If you think you've found one that may work with Ulead please post a link to the web page concerned and we will look at it and get back to you.
