Hello Hello
Can anyone recommend an easy to use DVD authoring tool?
Movie Factory is not exactly what I had in mind because it also has quick editing features. I already have a movie editor .....
And DVD Workshop is very pricey - isn't there a happy medium?
And was wondering if most DVD authoring programs require an 'MPEG' file to be brought into it's timeline for the burn to DVD (after chapter markers have been created)
Thanx

DVD VOB files are MPEG2 files. You have the choice of preparing them beforehand with your video editing program (VS9 or MSP8 etc) in which case the authoring program WS2 (or one of the modules contained in MF4 or VS9) will not have to convert it to MPEG2. The alternative would be for the authoring program to do the conversion.And was wondering if most DVD authoring programs require an 'MPEG' file to be brought into it's timeline for the burn to DVD
Experience has shown that it is better to convert to MPEG2 before authoring but it is not mandatory.
If you want just authoring and (almost) no editing but find DVD Workshop 2 too expensive then there is a cheaper version DVD Workshop Express.
Prices and comparisons of the two are here
http://www.ulead.co.uk/store/dws/runme.htm
The boxed versions of the two are
Full = £199.99
Express = £109.99
Even cheaper are the download versions
Full = £179.99
Express = £99.99
If you already have another ulead product then you qualify for an upgrade which again is cheaper still
Box = £79.99
download = £69.99
