Ulead Crashes after Flash Player 8 upgrade.

Post by MRG »

Hi!

After upgrading my flash player Ulead Video Studio couldn't handle the Flash animations any longer, in fact, when I tried to open a flash clip and play it, it would freeze up and then crash. It indicated an error of some sort with flash8.ocx or something. I had to remove Flash 8 and then remove and re-install Ulead Video Studio9 with all the packages and content.

Is there a patch or solutions out there? I couldn't find anything on the Ulead website.

Thanks.

I have Flash 8 installed and have had issues with Flash in VS9 exept for those few that are included with video studio. I have not gone back to Flash 7 to see if it has anything to do with the version. If you find a solution let us know.
Now using Adobe Premiere and Photoshop

... and do a Search of this Board for 'flash' as it has been discussed quite a bit in recent weeks. However, like Guy, I don't think there is yet a solution.

There are issues with Flash 8. The scripting that it uses is real sensitive. If the code is not correct, it will not function. In the earlier versions they were more forgiving and even if the syntax was a little off or not written correctly, they would read and function. Which by the way Flash interprets action script based on active X.

For example in the past if you wrote a script " _frame().getbytesTotal" it would work. With Flash 8 it will not. The difference is the "getBytesTotal". Just the "B" not being capitolized will cause it to fail.

So I think, and this is just my opinion, is that the developers for Ulead is not using correct scripting when coding the Flash Player in their products..

Hi all, I had this problem also. I upgraded to macromedia player 8 thinking that may be the problem, for all I knew Flash8 could already have been installed, but still attempting to run a flash animation would cause VS9 to crash.

I resolved the isue by doing a repair install from the VS9 CD all is working fine again now.

Hope this helps.

Some good news, some bad.

The good news is, that I'm not the only one having the Flash 8 - Ulead Crash problem. The bad news, that I have contacted Ulead, but they didn't even bother to answer anything beside the auto repply how much they appreciate that I contacted them and of course, to go and buy more Ulead products....

Kind o' sucks....

I guess, they don't want to give a "we haven't a clue" answer or something.
