Video Studio 9 and MCE
Hi, I've been using VS 8 & 9 for a while, and recently got a new PC. Like my old one this has MCE2005.
After installing VS8 & 9 (for upgrade reasons) the Hauppauge Tuner is nolonger recognised by MCE, it says TV Tuner Not Installed.
If I uninstall VS and do a system restore, I am able to get the tuner working again.
Any ideas would be very much welcomed!

It seems there are certian problems with Hauppauge cards and MCE, you might also want to check Hauppauge site for updated files.

Video Studio 9 and MCE
Hello again, thanks for suggestions, but the problem is slightly different to the one you describe the answer to.
Basically, my mCE is working fine and I can watch TYV. Then I install VS8 and it still works. When I install VS9 and reboot, MCE complains that the TV Tuner card is either not installed or not functioning.
When I remove VS9 and restore the TV tuner is recognised by MCE again.

You might want to download the latest driver file for you Hauppauge card, I noticed the driver was updated on 3 Feb 06, a day after my previous post. The new drivers might fix your problem.

I also have a Hauppauge TV Card. Although I can use Video Studio 9 or Movie Factory 4 to capture from the Hauppauge TV card I use the recording functions built into the Hauppauge TV Cards purpose built TV software
WinTv2000.
I then use my Ulead products to edit and produce my DVD's.
If you want to use Uleads productsto perform the capture process then take a look at my Tutorial here:

This was written for Movie Factory 4 but the procedure is more or less identical when using Video Studio.

Hi, thanks for this. I have tried the procedure again with the updated drivers, and I encounter the same problem. Is there a way to find out which drivers/services are installed by VS9 which may effect the tv tuner?tyamada wrote:You might want to download the latest driver file for you Hauppauge card, I noticed the driver was updated on 3 Feb 06, a day after my previous post. I have also noticved that the ehrecvr.exe process as a command line of C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0\AIKRC.dll - perhaps this is the problem??
After the driver update, did you install the plugin for the Hauppauge card from the Ulead website?
http://www.ulead.com/tech/vs/vs_ftp.htm
If that fails you should use WinTV to capture your video and edit it with VS9. Thats what I do because Ulead's plugin will only capture at one setting and won't let you change parameters.

I'm not actually trying to capture with VS (yet), the problem I have is that the installation of VS9 breaks my Media Center installation. It seems like VS9 installs or registers new files which MCE tries to use when accessing the TV r FM tuner.tyamada wrote:After the driver update, did you install the plugin for the Hauppauge card from the Ulead website?

What application do you use to watch TV or listen to radio?
If you use WinTV2000, there is a newer file here: http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/ ... 0-350.html
If all else fails contact Hauppauge Tech support to see if they have a fix.

Thank you for all your suggestions, but this still doesn't answer why Media Center works fine until I install VS9.tyamada wrote:You should read the information here: http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?id=910905
Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong area .... ?
thanks again
When does your TV stop working, after you install VS9 or when you install VS9 plugin for the Hauppauge card?
If your TV still works after installing VS9 and before installing the Hauppauge plugin, don't install the Hauppauge capture plugin.
I found trying to install the HDV and the Hauppauge plugin on VS9 conflicts with each other. It depends on the install sequence on which plugin I can use. Both plugins will not work together.

Not sure if this has any effect but
Windows Media Centre isn't listed as a supported system on the Ulead Website
