Why only VCD available for burning?

Post by jseise »

I have VideoStudio 7 but when I try to do Share I only get the VCD option instead of DVD. Why? I rendered the avi file to mpeg.

Are you trying to burn to DVD directly from the project? If so, big no-no. Read the sticky for recommended procedures at the tope of the form.

Let us know if you are trying to create a file and not a disk and we can investigate further.

You have not completed your system specifications on your profile page.
May seem like a stupid question but I'm going to ask anyway.
Do you have a DVD writer or a CD Writer.

You undoubtedly have VS7 SE or possibly (worse) VS7 SE Basic. These are crippled versions of the program, usually bundled with some hardware you have bought. One of the things crippled is what the program can burn, and usually it is limited to VCD or SVCD, if it can burn at all (the Basic version, I think, does not allow any burning...) But you can still produce a DVD-compliant mpeg-2 and use another program, such as Nero, to burn the DVD... or of course, upgrade the VS9!!
