16:9 URGENT Headache!!!
I can't seem to convert to 16:9. I've done it before but now I just can't seem to make the system burn to 16:9. I'm not getting the bars on the top and bottom of the screen. Instead everyone is stretched out thin and the dvd is using the entire 4:3 frame. The footage was shot in 16:9, edited in 4:3 and now I want to burn out to 16:9. Where am I going wrong?[/b]

Are you using Ulead VideoStudio7, 8 or 9? If that is the case you will not be able to burn DVD's on a 16:9 NTSC ratio, nor will you be able to create DVD files with Dolby - Stereo AC3 capabilities. I experienced the same problem with VideoStudio 8.
It is a matter of profits for Ulead given that Ulead has a another software that can do exactly what you want. And the software is called "Ulead MovieFactory 4 ,which coincidentally I recently had to buy it, in addition to my Ulead VideoStudio 8, because, like you, I too, wanted to burn my DVD's on a 16:9 NTSC ratio format.
Otherwise, you could buy a "Plug-in" from Ulead to do what you want to do with your VideoStudio software. Good Luck! I try contacting Ulead through various emails at their Official Support page / site and I never got a single reply from them. It is just another way of milking people out of their precious money.
And that my friend is called "Capitalism at its BEST"

Hi,
There is something you can try. Remember that the pixel information is just that, and how it's displayed is the aspect ratio.
I hope you haven't cropped the picture trying to correct it.
If your using any ulead product that can edit such as VS , MSP and
has 16:9 capabliites then:
Have the video on the timeline.
Set your "Project Properties" to 16:9 (the preview will be vertically elongated).
Use the "Export" feature and you must "UnCheck" the box that says
"Perform Non-Square Pixel Rendering" to correctly change a videos aspect ratio. Also, make sure the exporting settings are for 16:9 and
everything else matches the source material.
If memory serves me right you can still use the "Smart_Rendering" feature and have that box checked ON. The rendering should go fast if your exporting video & audio settings match that of the source material.
As a test cut a small clip of about 20 seconds. Export it with the aspect ratio set to 16:9 and "Perform non-square pixel rendering" NOT checked ON.
If the new video is now displayed properly any subsequent exports in 16:9 of the corrected material you want to have "Perform non-square Pixel Rendering" set to ON because the aspect ratio is now correct.
So, only do this once to the complete video.
Hope it works for you, have used it many times without losing any video information.
Try doing THAT in "Power Producer 5"
