Sorry but I forgot to add. After dragging it onto the clip you will not see it work on the timeline preview.
To see it in action you have to click the "Share Tab" and then select
"Project playback"

Once again, apologies for not mentioning it.

...and to complete what Steve said:
But if you have the project selected, it will show the filter's effect at the cursor position in the preview window for a check, only it is not visible WHILE you play or jog the clip.
So it's still easy to check how it goes by using f.i. the timer box to check second-by-second (or frame) how it displays.

Thanks everyone. Can I only insert a new filter in the purchased version. I currently have the trial (boxed version coming via post) and when I put the timecode filter into the appropriate file, nothing comes up in the video filter window.

It should work in the trial version. Have you placed it into the correct location.
The Full version it goes here:
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0\vft_plug

The trial version will be slightly different and something like
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0 Trial\vft_plug

Sorry cannot be more specific on the correct path to the trial version as obviously I have the full version.

Now I'm feeling stupid. I've put the Timecode into the vft_plug folder. Restarted VS9, restarted the computer etc etc. but it does not appear in the pulldown list of thumbnails in the video filter section. Any thoughts?

If you just copied the unzipped timecode.vft in the place Steve detailed, after restrating VS9 it should show as the last filter in the Video Filter library. Very easy to spot by the color only...

Hi all,

I recently bought Ulead VideoStudio 11.5 Plus, and searched for a timer plugin (incar racetrack video -> laptimer).

I downloaded the filter, put it in the correct folder, and was able to put it on a video fragment in the videotrack.

However...
  • How can you edit the starting/finishing point of the plugin? E.g. a fragment of 3 laps and a cooling down lap, and I only want to "time" the third lap?
  • The counter runs far too fast, compared to actual seconds. It runs aproximately 60% too fast. After 10 seconds it's already at 16 seconds. How can you alter this?
  • The aligning function does not properly work. When the video is paused, the counter is where it should be (in the rearviewmirror), but upon pressing the play button, it shifts to almost outside the video frame.
  • The font is very blurry, as if it were a font size 8 but then blown up to match the size I desire (e.g. 24).
Has someone experienced the same problem? Can someone give me any help?

Thanks a lot,
Kind regards,

Gilles[/list]

Hi BL!

Well, I am looking for something that would act as a 'time counter' in the clip. Just ticking away the seconds in one of the corners.
The directions for the above item mentioned:

1. Open Video Studio
2. Drag a clip to the timeline
3. Click the drop down box below the Video Studio 9 logo
. Then select "Video Filter" A new one will be in the selection of thumbnails
. "Timecode"
4. Drag the "Timecode" thumbnail onto the clip on your timeline.
5. At top left of your screen the attribute option is now displayed.
. There is an option to "Customize Filter"
In addition to the obvious choices of font, colour etc, click on the preview screen the location you wish the timer to appear.

I don't see how to get it to work with X3.

Assuming you have the filter installed into X3, with your video clip on the timeline you click on the FX button to bring up the filters. Click on the Timecode thumbnail and drag it down to your clip on the timeline. Customize the filter as needed.

Also you will not see it work while previewing in VS. You need to go to Share>Project Playback to view the time clock. I just tried this in VS X3 and it does work. Just a quick way to determine if it is going to work, scrub the time-line, you will see it then.

Must be doing something wrong.
Opened the zip file 'time code'. Dragged and dropped the 'timecode.vft' file into the X3 folder called 'vft_plug' In my C Program files/Corel/Corel VideoStuido Pro X3 folder.
Opened up X3, put a clip in the time line and then looked in the Special Effects folder. Don't see anything new. Looked under 'all' and also looked for a new option in the Special Effects drop down menu. No joy.

Ok, I see that it isn't showing up on my Vista machine. It does work with VS versions ran on WinXP and older. A google search for Robotiq filters, just leads back to this forum, maybe one or two others, however all having to do with Ulead MSP. So I would say that filter is so old and that Robotiq is no longer around, it will not work on current operating systems. :(
