Hi,

That's not the capture plugin. That's the name of the device.
Capture plugin selection always has about 4 choices.

Ah, yes.
I checked that section also. I was given the option of "none" followed by plugins for 3 different kinds of digital cameras. None of them applied to my situation.

The link is not a bad idea. It got even worse. I'll be starting a new thread giving some warnings about upgrading from MF4 to MF5. It almost took my system down last night.

I still had the wrong section. That was the Device Control section. In Capture Plugins, there are also four entries: 2 for Ulead DSW capture (one for AVI, one for Mpeg; the system set Mpeg as default); and 2 for digital cameras, for which I have no drivers since I don't own a digital movie camera.maddrummer3301 wrote:Hi,

I had a real nightmare situation last night trying to use the MF5 trial version update. I'll post that in a separate thread. People need to be aware of potential problems when they upgrade from MF4 to MF5. These are really dirty programs--that is, they don't clean the registry out properly when they're uninstalled, and that creates real problems between the two versions and with the system overall. I unistalled MF4 first, then installed MF 5 (which did not cure the jerky video problem, BTW); it also froze after each capture, which is behavior I've seen on other posts. worst thing was that when I tried to restore the system to the pre-MF5 state, MF4 wouldn't load anymore, and I couldn't even uninstall it, because the uninstaller wouldn't laod either. I kept getting system messages that the program was performing illegal operations, with the usual "notify Microsoft" link. I finally had to clean out the registry manually. There were dozens of Ulead entries in the registry that had been left behind after the uninstallation that did work. This is really sloppy, unacceptable programming.
