how do i convert pal analog video to ntsc digital

Post by aurorakidz.arnold »

I am trying to capture Pal Hi 8 analog video into a NTSC digital format. Does this software allow me to convert from one standard to another or not? I read one post that said most DVD players will play a DVD Pal. Are DVD players so generic that they play DVDs made in both Pal and NTSC formats?

Don't know about DVD players, but I think that you will find that most modern TV sets have a dual system capability.

A small caveat to what John said. Most PAL units will play back NTSC, the reverse is not necesarily true.

Using MF4 to Convert between NTSC/PAL or PAL/NTSC

From the timeline screen highlight the video(s) to convert.
Click on the export button (3rd down on the left).
Select "Customize" -> Type in a "Filename" for the new converted video.
Click on "Options"
Click on the "Compression" Tab. Under "Disk Type" change that to
either "NTSC DVD" or "PAL DVD" depending on which way your converting.
Set the "Video_Data_Rate" and the "Audio" properties to the same as
the source material.
Click OK to exit.
Click on "Save" to start the conversion.

Hope this helps,

MD
