chapters as titles?
is there a way i can take one long video file, pick certain points as chapter starting points, and make THEM the titles on the startup menu page? so far it seems the only way i can have them all on one menu page is to import them all as separate videos? sorry if this isn't very clear but i cannot figure out how to ask in a sensible fashion...
YES!
YES! - I usually have one MPEG-2 file and I add several chapters.
I hope I don't leave something out... 'cause the computer I'm on now (at work) doesn't have Workshop.
Go to the point in the video where you want the chapters. You can type-in the time, or use the forward-backward buttons. Then, click Add Chapter. Now you can drag that chapter (form the right side of the screen) into your menu.
Often, I'll add some chapters without putting them on the menu. The viewer can use the >>| and |<< keys to skip forward and back between the "chapters".

I have added chapters to..
What i did is created a dvd from my standalone player on a RW-dvd in to the computer and imported it in WS2.
WS2 made 12 mpg files...
i created and removed some chapters
the dvd is 45 minutes. the band i recorded from television played 9 songs, so i created 9 chapters..
When i play the dvd, there is always -> i repeat -> always a little skip between those chapters...
So when the next song is to be played, i see a black moment and the sound is gone.. just for a 0.50 second i think...
I can't find the problem to solve this iritating error..
Does anyone know what do to make chapters so that after burning the dvd plays smooth with no interrupting ?
thanks for your help

i just tried it again..
imported the dvd into WS2 it created the same mpg's again
i just took a background and a play button..
and burned it to my hdd...
after 4 minutes the second chapter or frame comes along and there is the same interupting again...
Ws2 suppost to be a program for creating dvd's ?
i'm thinking of going back to my dvdlap pro program..
unless someone can convince me that i'm wrong ?

I have a feeling that either you or I misunderstand ourselves. Let' start by definitions:
A title is an independent mpg file
A chapter is a cue point or marker within a title
Converting a VOB to an MPG file will ALWAYS create a new title
Going from title to title will cause a pause between them, as the reader head of the player has to move to the centre track to find out where to go next.
Going from chapter to chapter is seamless
There are two ways to join a plurality of vobs/mpgs so that you have a single title which will play seamlessly:
- import them into an editor and butt them together and render them into a single mpg file which will become your unique title, which will play seamlessly; you can then make chapter points for each of the old titles
- use a more modern dvd importer which will do the above for you. WS2 does not have this, as the technology was not known when the software code was written, but MF4 does. Once you have imported it thuswise, you can take the resultant file into WS2 for the rest of the operations. I presume that there will be a WS3 at some indeterminate time (don't ask!) in the future, which will have the same possibility, as WS2 is beginning to show its whiskers, even if it is still the best prosumer authorer on the market.
I hope this explains the situation clearly; there is no way of avoiding pauses between titles, no matter the authoring software, as this is a feature of DVD not the authorer. Titles must be rendered into a single file to prevent pauses, making one unique one. There are two ways of doing this: meld in an editor or capture with a modern software.
Capisce?

Now i'm sure i stay with dvdlab pro...
this lab pro create 1 big mpv file and then i can make chapters...
The only reason i tried WS2 is because someone kept showing off about this program... well the menus in WS2 are cool...
But the way the program works i prefer lab pro...
No harm done...
