Yup exact same thing with me. When I click 'ok' after running the .exe, it says it will take a few mins to load but it only takes a few seconds before the screen dissapears.

I am running the full version of MSP8 but it was the tbyb (try before you buy) version. Wonder if that makes a difference?

I opened the .exe files and then opened MSP8 - no Steve category
in smart compositor. I tried several times and even rebooted
computer, but still no Steve category. After I click "ok" on the
.exe files - I can visually see the motions of the files downloading but
it does not get into MSP8.

I have the box version of MSP8 and not the try before you buy.
You're right - it took only a few seconds to complete all 6
downloads and not a few minutes. An earlier post indicated these
files would be located in C:/programs/UleadMSP8/uct_plug.
I opened that file and a whole bunch of folders with numbers
opened up. Even clicking on them doesn't give me a clue as to
where Steve's templates went. Is there a work around? I don't know
where the download went - do I need to find these files first before
and delete them before attempting again. I've tried to download
at least 5 times without any success.

Thank you for trying. Would you be prepared to try a little experiment for me . I have zipped the files created here:
http://www.steve-jones.pwp.blueyonder.c ... rtcomp.zip
It is a massive 17kb in size!!
if you unzip it to the root directory "c" and ensure that you have checked the option "use folder names".

This hopefully will contain all 6 of the smart compositions.
If it doesn't work just look in the zip file for the 12 file names and locations and then you can delete them again.

Either way could you let us know the result, it may be a work-round for others.

Steve,
Success at last!!!
I followed your last set of directions to unzip folder and it worked.
MSP8 was not open. I downloaded your link and unzipped folder and
then opened MSP8 - your "Steve Jones" templates where you said
they would be. Templates work just fine. Thank you for the work around and the templates. Great work Steve!

Forgot to mention earlier, there was no option for "use folder
names" - I just made sure it went to "c" and unzipped and templates
went into MSP8.

Okay, Steve, I downloaded and installed all six of them and I do have the other file you mentioned later. I clicked on Smart Composer and Steve Jones was there. All of the templates were there. But when I opened them up and changed the color blocks to my videos (even tried images), the color blocks didn't go away. The image/video that I placed in the
blocks on the Story Board appeared correctly, but when I hit play, the colored blocks you created remained. I tried changing the music, also, but it stayed the way you created it. I clicked "Insert" to send it to the timeline and it remained the way you created it. I was unable to change anything. I have used Smart Composer frequently, since I got MSPro 8.0, so I know how to use it. I do have version 8.00.028, but I don't have any hot fixes because I didn't have anything on the list that was posted some time ago that needed it.

Thanks.
Mathis...

Simple colour blocks in place of the pictures
Smartsound for the music - one of the tracks that ships with MSP8.

Anyone managed to download a working copy?

Thanks

Obviously they work on my machine otherwise I wouldn't have posted them.
Could I ask if anyone else is having this problem and also are they working correctly for anyone.
Obviously we all need to know the answer to this before we all start creating these in the hope of sharing them.

I just tried inserting video clips in place of the color blocks and it works perfectly.

Mathis, are you inserting the videos/pictures in Smart Compositor and DELETING the color blocks before you insert the SC video into the timeline? That's the way I did it and it worked.

Steve,I just drop the pix or video clip on top of the colored
clip in Smart Compositor and bingo, done.

Jday, I just dropped my video/pictures on top of them -- that's the way I do it on the supplied ones....

Okay, I just tried it again by just dropping it on the black box that says "Drop Video Clip to here" then deleted the yellow box and it did the same thing. Here you can see the results:

notice on the display screen that the yellow box is still yellow, not the the water.

Here is the result of one that I did with the supplied. The middle picture of the lady is the one I changed -- it's actual video. The ones on the right and left screen are defaults.

Thanks.
