JVC GR-DV M5

Hi there , i have just bought a dv editing kit from PC world and am trying to get it working with my jvc GR-dvm5 camcorder.
The kit contained a firewire card , firewire cable and the ulead software.
When i go to capture it says " no video capture device is installed or no device is connected.
When i go to my computer i cant see my camcorder as a device.
The firewire card is all showing healthy in device manager .
I have rebooted several times , switched camera on and off , tried it in its docking station/charger .
I am running windows xp
Any help would be greatly apreciated

I had a JVC-GR20. Pc wouldn't pick it up at all. Had to test each part of the set up step by step. Brought the firewire card back and installed new one. It wasn't that. Changed the firewire cable. Wasn't that. Ended up bring the camera and cable into the dealer. After a bit of convincing it was sent away and the camera firewire port just wasn't working and they fixed it. After 2 months of trying to figure it out.Has worked fine since. What I'm saying is just try everything. And dont assume it's not a camera fault

Not sure about the docking station but that camcorder's 1394
interface isn't active running from the battery.
(maybe in the docking station it's still on battery but charging?).

Try connecting the camcorder straight via the A/C adapter without
using battery power if possible.
