Download Woes, this time ESD version

Post by Wolfgang van Ween »

Here we go again.

I'm a VideoStudio 9 User and as such had my share of experience with TBYB, hotfixes and specifically Tech Support.

I've considered upgrading to MSP8, mainly because of the Dolby 5.1 sound editing features. (My camera records 5.1 and I would loose that with VSP9)

First I checked the program via TBYB and encountered the crashes described on this board. I've tried it on two different systems, a weak one and a supercharged one, with a freshly installed Windows XP Prof and a virgin SATA hard disk. It's clearly a buggy program. Full Stop.

Then I read on this board that users have been satisfied with the ESD (full) version, and that the problems have disappeared.

So, yesterday, I reached deep into my pocket and purchased MSP8 online. I've received a download link for the ESD .28 version and for the content pack. (nearly 600MB)

I've downloaded both - and receive a "The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity, and try again."
- on both files.

I've downloaded using GetRight, then I tried again, then I used IE without GetRight. Same result every time. Hmm, I thought: is it possible these guys change the file on every download and forget to re-compute the CRC or something like that? I compare the versions and sure enough, 10 bytes are different in each of the files.

Any ideas?
Or do I have to wait for Customer Service again?

Many thanks
Wolfgang

PS repairing with a CAB repair program didn't work either, so it can't be just the CRC???

Problem solved - thanks to Element5

I'm happy to report that my problem is solved.
I contacted Element5's customer support, and unlike Ulead's they came back to me within the same business day with a new download link and an apology. Downloaded and it works!!!
Now if only I had the time for all the new possibilities :-)
