Converted MOV file to WMV has no sound

Post by melzy »

Hi!

I'm hoping someone can help. I took an MOV file from a CD rom and copied it to my computer. When I play the file in Ulead Video Studio 8, I get sound. However, when I try to re-encode it to a WMV file there is no sound.

I've done this quite a while ago when I had Ulead Video Stuio 3 some while back with no problems. I don't think the file is protected at all other wise I would not have been allowed to copy it from the disk. I've tried encoding it in Real Media however the quality is terrible but I do get sound. Is the MOV file not really compatable with converting to WMV? Or is there a setting or something I'm missing?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

A file protected with DRM can usually be copied without problems from one type of media to another, but it cannot be used once copied. When you right-click on the file in UVS and display the file properties, what are the details? Highlight the output with the mouse, copy the information to the clipboard, and post them here.

Sorry, I'm after the properties of the source file. We know the output file isn't protected, but the MOV file may be. Apple's FairPlay DMR scheme is implemented in QuickTime, so any file that is in a QuickTime format or container can be protected by it.

Okay I wasn't sure which file. But if it is protected then why do I get audio when I convert with real producer 10? I can extract the audio just by it's self too. However the voice and the video don't quite match up.

I have figured out a way to get around it. I'll have to copy the audio seperately and then place it in with the video and make sure that everything is matched up voice/video and then copy it to a file.

Here's the source video. I couldn't copy it so I typed it in here by hand:

File Format: Quicktime Movie File
Movie Size: 480x272
Duration: 118.319 seconds
Track Counts: 1 Video Track(s), 1 Audio Track(s)

Video Track 1:

Compression: MPEG-4 Video
Attributes: 24bits, 480x272
Total Frames: 2,840
Frame Rate: 24.003
Duration: 118.319 seconds
Start At: 0.000

Sound Track 1

Audio Compression: MPEG-4 Audio
Attributes: 44.100 khz , 16 bit audio
Total Samples: 5,095
Duration: 0.116 Seconds
Start at: 0.000
