Output Disc Format: no SVCD, DVD option

Post by dna »

I got this Ulead software with the DVD Xpress video capture device that
I bought.

For some reason, when I try to use any feature such as CreateVideoDisc or DirectToDisc, the only output disc format that is visible is VideoCD. The
manual says that I should be able to choose SVCD and DVD option too. I do not see these radio buttons.
(Something that should be possible with *DVD* movie factory.)

What do I need to do so that I can see those radio buttons? (SVCD and
DVD).

Did I not install something?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

If the software came free with some hardware then it is very likely an 'SE' version - these are Special Editions produced by Ulead to be given away free and usually have many of the output functions disabled - in your case sounds like the Create DVD option.

I just tried installing the software on my laptop (that does not have a DVD burner, but just to test). This time it gives me all the options.

Sounds like a bad installation on my desktop. I tried to uninstall it and it did not. So I deleted whatever files and folders I knew it created and deleted a load of registry entries.

Then it let me install it again (otherwise it used to go to modify/repair/remove). I thought that would fix the problem, but it did not.

I am having the same problem again. I don't know how to clean it fully so that I can try again.

Also, I had to type in the name to use for the StartMenu group. On my laptop, it gave me the name "Ulead Systems". Just another symptom that something was wrong with the desktop installation. One more day and then I will return this.

Turned out that I had an old copy of windows installer. When I updated it, I got all the options.

Thanks for your time.
