"Convert step got some problems! (4101)"

Post by j_darnell »

When I click 'Output' DVDMF4 advises me that it is "Converting Video Title". I have 11 titles and after about an hour it crashes and I get the "Convert step got some problems! (4101)". If it's taking that long I don;t need telling there's a problem, I do want to know what to do?

I have deselected the "Motion" option, but with zero improvement. After 45 minutes it is still "Converting Video Title". I NEVER had this problem with DVDMF2, anybody have any ideas?

Thanks,

John

Sometimes I can click 'Burn' and it appears to pick up where it left off.

No, take that back. It now gives up after 3 minutes instead of an hour. Am I the only one who has this problem?

When outputting DVDMF4 stops and gives error 4101

Post by j_darnell »

The exact details of my problem are:

When outputting the program the first top progress bar says "Preparing Video Title Data" The second bar says "Converting Video Title 1/11" and a percentage of progress is displayed. I persist it gets a little further each time, so it is now saying "3/11" and 19%

The Source files are .wmv files downlaoded from the internet. THey vary in length from 2minutes to 90minutes. There are 11 of them 60MB to 180MB.

I am working simply with files. No capture devices or output devices are involved.

The project settings are as follows
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
(DVD-PAL), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 7000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)

The output is DVD, PAL, Write to Disc. (I tried using DVD Folders, no change)

The error code is "Convert Step got some problems! (4101)"

If anybody has the same problem and reads this far, here is my workaround:

Start with one video clip. When ready, click the 'Burn' icon. When the "Multiplexing video/audio" message appears, cancel. Use the 'Back' button and go back to the the 'Add Media' screen and add the next clip. When happy with the title etc. return to the output screen and repeat the procedure. The processed data is obviously kept in the temporary files. DO NOT DELETE THESE TEMPORARY FILES until finished.

Slow, painful, Ulead should fix this bug, but it is working so far. I am up to clip No 5.

For the sake of completeness I will let the forum know if I succeed in getting my DVD finished. (I'm away for a couple of weeks)

I've found it best to convert the files to Mpeg2 before going on to the
menu / burning screens etc. This way I'm working with dvd compliant files and
they don't need to be re-rendered. Also if there's a problem converting
a file it will show up during conversion. You will also find out what file is
giving you a problem.
On the timeline screen click on the 3rd icon down on the left to
Export the video.
I usually either use a preset template I've created or the "Custom"
feature and manually set the mpeg2 file parameters.
You can highlight all the clips on the timeline and MF will export
all of them or one at a time.
After they are in mpeg2 compliancy then I save that project.
Start a new one and import the compliant files, create chapters, menus & burn.

Hope this helps,

MD

Thanks MD. After all that....... The problem was ONE, presumably CORRUPTED FILE!

By adding them one by one, I finally came to the file that the program refused to convert it's video title data. So the program happily converts the video data for 10 files and I have 10 episodes of a webtv program on one DVD. I will try exporting the offending file.

I hope all of my posts will help someone else. It's been a weekend of learning to be patient!

I've been having the same problem and after reading the various "fixes" for this "serious bug" am extremely glad I decidied to trial ulead software being handing over my hard earned cash for it. What a joke! Off to trial Roxio or another video editing suite for me I think...
