Updates killed me

Post by ascv »

I got the Hauppauge PVR150 with remote (1045) from circiut city this weekend. It came with a install disc that has DVD Movie Factory v3 se included.

DMF3 was working OK but burning at 4x was slow. So I went to Ulead's webite and found updates for DMF3 and 16x burner.
ulead_16xburn_patch.exe
dmf3_hauppauge_wintvpvr_pci.exe

Found here
/http://www.ulead.com/tech/dmf/dmf.htm

After the updates I rebooted and it took a long time to put my icons back on the desktop. So I looked at device manager and I now have an exclaimation point in front of my NEC DVD 3520A burner and my Lite-On CD burner.

So I uninstalled DMF3 and rebooted. Still no fix. Next uninstalled both burners and rebooted. Windows XP is still slow to reload and finds new hardware and auto installs burners and I get "A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)" from each burner.

I need help trying to figure out which one of these two updates are messing me up and how to get them out.
Thanks

My computer is:
WinXP Pro, AMD2500, 80gb hd, 512ram, fx5200 vid card

Found this on the web. Fixed it.

Fixing the problem simply involves deleting the filter entries for the third-party device drivers. These entries can sometimes become damaged (which is what produces the "corrupt registry" warning).

To delete the offending keys, open the Registry and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. Delete the keys named UpperFilters and LowerFilters and reboot.
