I am using a Sony Handycam (model CCD-TRV138) and Linxcel's USB Video Grabber that connects to the composite sony camcorder.
Whenever I use the VideoStudio software that was bundled with it to capture movies from the video camera to my computer they are all horribly garbled and barley see-able.
I believe I have all the right up to date software and drivers, so what may be the problem that gives me this horrible video input while the video displayed on the handycam looks perfectly fine?
-Thanks
Video is too scrambled to see

Took me a while to find a decent review on this one

You have a Sony Handycam CCD TRV138 - camcorder - Hi8
I used to have a Hi-8 camcorder prior to my current Digital 8.
To record I had to connect the composite video/audio output leads to my Hauppauge TV card and record with the TV cards capture software
(WinTv2000).
I don't know anything abouyt your Linxcel's USB Video Grabber but hopefully my little input will help someone who is familiar with that item to guide you further.

Steve -- according to that link, the camera only has (RCA) composite out, and no S-Video. The only 'review' I could find of the Linxcel Video Grabber says that its performance using composite cables is not good, and not surprisingly, recommends that the S-video connection be used. Fine if you have one.
The device, by the way, only costs $35 (less, of course, on Ebay), and is tiny -- a couple of inches long and about 3/4" square, with S-video and composite in and USB2 and audio line cables out. It can only capture to a maximum of 640 x 480. It comes bundled with VS7SE, which does, however, suggest that it should be able to capture properly, at least in theory.
