Too fast....

I have the trial version and mine does the same on sound.
During capture everything appears okay only when I play back or write a disk does this happen it is impossible to make a disk as obviously the sound is silly.
I have discovered by trial and error that if i change the settings from LPCM audio to MPEG audio then it fixes it. It has taken me some time of keep capturing clips to find this out.
I really just wanted to click a few buttons and get a playable DVD and the LPCM was in fact the default. Changing the audio also affects what appears in the format box - it changes from DVD High Quality to MPEG. I just wanted DVD High Quality to move my VHS to DVD.
Looked so simply - but alas no.
What does this LPCM do? Should I care? Or if I buy and make loads of DVD's I might be wasting my time.
Thanks

Just to let you know.
The software is on offer at a special price in England so I purchased it despite the sound problems I was having. From your posts I figured what I was getting was good enough and I could use it.
Since I have installed it and applied all the update patches the problem has gone away. (you cant apply patches to the trial version)
Although I am very pleased I wonder if Ulead knows this as it could turn customers away if people believe they are getting a full working copy and then they have problems. I only decided to buy because the price was so good with the offer and I knew I could at least get round the problem.
I can only assume others with the same problem would be fixed if they installed the bought version. I cant say for certain but it worked for me.

playback too fast
i am having the same problem. when previewing video during capture, it appears normal. when viewing captured video, playback is a touch jerky and noticeable fast, audio is in sync with video.
i am using moviefactory3.5 that came bundled with my dvd burner(pioneer dvra08). video source is a sony dvcr connected via rca jacks to an ati tv wonder pro. settings are pretty much set to default. format is set to dvd ntsc 720x480 and mpeg audio. audio was set to lpcm but switched to mpeg after reading previous post. playback speed is set to normal. i can list other settings if they would help.
operating system is windows xp pro with sp2 update installed. all drivers are up to date.
other pc specs if needed are:
abit av8 board
amd athlon64 3500 cpu
1gb ocz memory
3 120 gb wd caviar hard drives(2 in raid 0)
asus a9800xt vid card
soundblaster audigy gamer sound card

Your system sounds like a fast setup.
Usually it's best to capture using the ATI recorder software making a
Mpg2 dvd compliant file and then importing that file into MF3 and
creating a dvd.
If your system cannot capture a full high bit rate mpg2 dvd compliant file
without dropping frames (using the ATI recorder software) then something
may not be setup properly or a conflict etc.
After you do capture using the ATI software when you import the video it
will be "Upper_Field_First -> Field B".
If you are using MF3 to CAPTURE don't let MF3 autodetect the field because it detects the wrong field. When capturing using the ATI analog cards the field setting should be set to "Upper_Field_First -> Field B".
It's possible this is why your playback looks wrong?
Hope this helps,
MD

playback too fast
ok, thanks for the replies. after playing around with suggested settings, i finally got it working. strangely it still wont capture correctly if i go into "advanced video editing" and use capture there. but it worked going into "create video/slideshow disc" and using capture there. settings i used were
output format dvd
capture mode fixed duration
format dvd-hq 720x480
field order upper field first
audio format lpcm
capture plug in ulead directshow capture plug in
after capturing all edit functions are also available there.
thanks again for replies

I don't think that is the correct plug-in to capture Mpeg.
I think that plug-in is to capture in avi format.
The ulead plugin has the word Mpeg in it.
Some of the ATI drivers don't work with other capturing programs.
You need the latest version of DirectX to usually have the
ATI drivers work properly. ATI also installs a driver called "RAGE Theatre
Audio" that conflicts with many programs. In XP you can disable that
on the fly in device manager, it's only for playing back dvd's.
The soundblaster audigy is probably one of the most probmatic sound
cards out there because it has a "What You Hear" feature. The outputs
share a common bus in the chipsets which causes feedback when
capturing.
In order to capture with these cards one usually has to
check the box "Disable monitoring while recording".
A very small + sign on top of the recording slider in the SoundBlaster mixer.
Besides that the audigy card advertised to do 24bit audio has very long
lacency and crashes trying to run the cards in duplex mode.
It's possible your soundcard is causing many problems.
Hope this helps,

I am experiencing a similar problem at the moment. I have previously produced a number of DVD's from captures from my camcorder and as far as I know have not changed anything.
The preview during capture shows correct speed, but when played back in DMF after capture it plays at 1.76x normal speed. I have tried various project settings with the same result.
When the MPG file is played in WINAMP it basically plays at the corrrect speed but there is a short burst of noise (~1/3 sec) at the start of the file. (I suppose that is confusing the Ulead playback software.)
Any suggestions?
