no transition effects

Post by debie »

I installed MSP8 without any errors.
After starting the application I can import mediafiles, bring them to the timeline. But I don't see the choice for transition effects.
In Production library I can see:
- media library with movie/audio/image
- a blank line ....?
- moving path
- overlay
- video filter
- audio filter

I think the transion effects must be on the blank line .
When I go with my cursor over the blank line, my cursor changes in a hand, and when I click there comes a blue rectangle on the blank line.
I also installed the hot patch without success.
I uninstalled the whole thing and reïnstalled, without success.
I believe that after uninstalling there must be some left files because with a reinstall, all my previous imported media files where in the medialibrary again

Can someone help me with this error
Is there a way to uninstall everything, so there is no trace from UMS anymore on my harddisk ?

Bizarre! Did you download or do you have the boxed version? It may be the download had a glitch???

Do a search to find all the related files using MSP and 8.0 for keywords. If you know how, it may be a good idea to clear the registry as well, after uninstalling. Registry Mechanic is a good utility for this or Registrar Lite (freeware) is more powerful but requires some knowledge of what you are doing.

I know this probably sounds daft but... It sounds as though you have downloaded MSP8 and installed it. Did you also download and install the "extra content".
I dont know what the bare bones program contains as the first thing I did after installing it was to install the extra content.

I had the same problem. On starting the program would run through the startup but would never build the transition library. I did a couple of uninstall reinstalls but no joy. I managed to fix part of the problem by adding some of the transitions which I had in MSP-7 (the burger transitions) - this allowed the library build those - but it still did not build the MSP-8 transitions.

I then renamed one of the MSP-8 transitions to "bak" (they are located in the "vfx plug" directory and copied the corresponding MSP-7 transisition to the MSP-8 directory. This cause an error on start up - so I removed the MSP-7 transition and renamed the MSP-8 "bak" transition to it's vfx extension.

The program then started up ran through all the builds and built the transition library - with all of my MSP-8 transitions there along with the burgers. The only thing is that the is still a blank line where the word -"transitions" should be - but if you click on the blank line + sign all of the transitions are there.

I don't have a clue what I did to fix the problem - but it worked for me
