To use the Project Tray just Right-Click on the Project Tray/Media Bin folder and from the context menu you can create all the folders & subfolders you need for your project. While you have that context menu open check the other options for useful functions.

When the project file is saved the custom folder definitions are saved with it. Open MSPro without that project file loaded and those new folders and their contents will not be present. Keeps things neat & tidy.

Media Bins are now standard fare in video editors because they let you organize projects so well.
I've tried using the media bin before but loading the project also takes about 2 hours if you have too many clips in the project and you can't open more than one project at a time. I have tried using the Project Tray instead of the Production library to store clips. So while yes the program will open quickly, once you try to open the project file it still takes forever to load everything. (as in more than 1 hour)

I'll give this another shot regardless.

btw...read the manual it does not say you can't store large quanity of clips it just says that's where you store your clips. Or at least that's how I'm reading it. though I will try the media bins again.

Placing clips into the Production Library

To share clips among different projects, import them to the Media Library folder of the Production Library tab. To use clips only in a particular project, import them to the Media Pool folder of the Project Tray tab.

To import media files into the Production Library:

1. Click either the Import Video File, Import Audio File, Import Image File,
or Import Project File button from the toolbar.

2. Browse for and select your file. Click Open to import the file.
I am storing my clips in the media bin of the Production library to share them among different projects and the program can't load if you add too many clips to this media bin. I do move my clips that i'm using for current projects over to the project tray.

I've read that part of the manual too and I'm doing what it says to do, I'm not sure why it can't handle 40 something folders and 3000 clips? Or actually it handles them fine, it just takes 2-3 hours to load the program if you turn it off.

Just did some quick calculations.

3000 clips displayed for just 10 seconds each would result in a project length of ~8.3 hours. Even accounting for overlays and a few multi-frame PIP's this sounds like something that's unlikely to fit on a 4.7g DVD

I just expected this Production library to work kind of like the Library in UVS9. I'm not adding all these clips to the timeline..

I found a work around.

basically I just go to the Admim/application data/ulead/mediastudio

I took the basic library.gal file and copied it into another folder, then scanned the episodes I wanted, copied the new library.gal file, renamed it and pasted it into the same folder with the default. I figured the program works fine as long as it's running so I can grab clips for my project and when I'm done grabbbing what I think i'll use for a current project, I just switch out the default library for the super-large library and then open my project file.

At this point I have four or five library.gal files, chances are that number will grow depending on how many more music videos I decide to make for different fandoms. It's not the best solution but it works.
