VS 7 SE burns only DVD RWs not Rs
I use VS 7 SE, a Plextor 712a DVD burner and Memorex DVD-RW & DVD+RW. I tried to burn a movie on a DVD-R and VS7 said the disc is a non-editable disc. Can I only use RW discs?

Well 5½ hours is hardly long enough to decide that you have stumped everyone - some of the regulars on these forums haven't even got up yet - yet alone had time to log on to see your problem.
Yes Ulead VideoStudio will most certainly burn -R and +R discs BUT BUT BUT you have an SE version - these are all crippled in some way because they are supplied free with different hardware packages. Unless your version is specifically "7 SE DVD" or "7 SE CD" it is very likely that you will not be able to burn any discs at all - you may need to buy the full version.

Hi
Have you managed to use these discs (Dvd+R) successfully using another program.
To prove or disprove that Video Studio is the culprit.
Try burning your Mpeg 2 files using Nero or similar software.
If you do not own the software you could download a trial version.
It may be a compatibility problem between your burner and the disc.
If it happens to be a compatibility problem, check out these links.

Surprisingly Memorex is not listed
Hope this Helps
