The question: How to rename a mpg clip that was brought in from a dvd ISO file.
I want to use past footage I have shot and put on a DVD. Used DVD decryper to create a VOB file, renamed to SOCCER.MPG, imported into
Video Editor, I now have one long 26 minute mpg clip on V1 that I can edit. I am happy, everything good so far.
Using the scissors, I cut out a portion of the mpg I want to use in a new project, and dragged it down to v2, no problem.( the name remains SOCCER.MPG) It is not allowing me to rename this new clip. I want to be able to store just that small clip back on my harddrive, (avi?) along with all the other clips I have captured for my new project, then bring it in as needed. I guess it a roundabout way of capturing from a dvd.
So, How do I rename the new clip? and should I / Do I / how do I convert it back to an avi and store it back to the harddrive?
I did a good search on the above, no help. I did get hits on renaming the vob file to mpg to bring it in...NICE!!!
Thanks,
Kevin
Re-naming imported mpg files
1) Working with scissors (or other options) does not modify your input file (with the exception of "smart trim"). All operations will only be reflected in the project file. To get any result file, you should use "file/create video". There you can also decide if you wont to create mpeg or avi or ...
2) VOB and MPEG are similar, but not the same. You should be lucky, that MSP accepted your renamed file. Its a little bit as if you have a box with the label "bread" on it and you replace the label with a new one "beaf". Do you expect that the contents changes?
