Hi

Wmv files can be imported to the timeline and edited.

Click the lower left ‘folder icon’ and select ‘insert Video’ browse your hard drive for your files.

Editing WMV files in VideoStudio 9

Thanks for your reply, but how come when I do that I get the entire video file and not video clips of the file.
Since I want to edit that entire video, how do I split this huge video file to its original video clips, which then I will be able to edit it?

Hi

When you import a video file, whatever type you import one file.
This is placed in the timeline as one clip. You can cut this clip into pieces using the scissors (lower right of preview window) Editing the clip does not alter the video file on your hard drive.
After you have completed editing you make a new video file from ‘Share--Create Video File’.

You can also use the Multi Trim Video tool to trim unwanted frames from your video clip, again the file on your hard drive is unchanged.

Press F1 for video studio help and select ‘Edit Step’ from the index

Hi AV,
There are a couple of different methods to accomplish this. One is placing your video in the timeline in Storyboard mode. Then using scrubber (arrow located below the Preview Window) drag to where you want to split the video. For more accuracy you can enlarge the Frame / Timeline using the slider on the left between the 2 magnifying glasses, or clicking on the magnifying glasses. Once you get to where you want to split the video, click on the scissors. Viola..now you have 2 clips.

Rinse and Repeat as needed...

For further information I suggest reading the manual, even though it is lacking, it does provide basic directions for things like this. Also this forum does have Search capabilites. Doing a search on "splitting, or cutting, split by scene" will give numours threads..
