Post by Wilde »

I can't find the video filters any where. I've looked through the manual and watched the vids but when I click on the tab it doesn't come up where it should. I downloaded the program as a trial and have just brought the licence.

It really anoying as I did it earlier.

I'm trying to add a ghost to a moving jpeg image.

Little help?

Hi Wilde,
Did you download all the content packs? Did you have the filters before and Poof! now there gone?

If you click on the Attribute Tab the Filters Library should open up where the Video Library is. Or you can use the drop down and select Video Filters. However you must be in the Edit or Overlay mode and not have the Text or one of the audio tracks highlighted.

I didn't have them but then I found them today and now poof! I wnet to add another filert to a diffrent clip and there gone. I tried a new project and no luck. I've downloaded the downloads on the smart downloader and I just cant find them. When in atributes I can only distort the clip. The filter boxes are blank and unselectable.

Ok check to see if they are on your system still. Navigate to (and this is based on a common install) C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Video Studio 9\Smart Downloads (I think, I just went to check and since I burned these onto a disc I don't have the folder there now).

Anyway there should be a folder on your system "Smart Downloads". In that folder should be the all Content Pack Files, downloaded through Smart Download. If they are there copy them to a disc or another place on your system. You might have to reinstall VS to get them back. If so you shouldn't have download the content packs again.

See if that helps...

Yes, unless while downloading you select install after download, then you then have to go to each content pack and install.

Great you got it working!! For any further problems the boards are here..

Good Luck :)

Hi Bob,

Try looking in the folder described in my previous post. There should be several exe files. Clicking on one will launch it, and should install them. Also do you have the ESD or Boxed version? If you have the boxed version then you can go to Start-->Control Panel-->Add/Remove Programs, and select the Repair option to repair the installation. With the ESD you have to uninstall and reinstall.

Thanks for replying. After reading the boards i created a new user on my computer. I had been the only. When i logged in as the new user with admin privileges, the filters were there. So do i now need to copy the file identified into my user area? Can you tell me how to do this.

In response to your thoughts, the problem occured with the trial version. I uninstalled it. Reinstalled the boxed version and ran repair. It did NOT fix the problem. I also don't see a smart download file in initial user area. there is a folder named vft_plug that has all the filters in it but there are no exe files in this folder.

Appreciate any further advice on how to fix my own user so it works properly.

Thanks.

More info in case this helps. when i created a new user and reinstalled ulead, the new user had all the filters. My original user still did not. I tried to copy the vfilter.rsf into the orginal user but i either did something wrong or it didn't work. Still can't see filters in the old user. Was the new user supposed to be limited under this fix or with administration rights?

Am i relegated to using the new user to edit?

I have windows xp media edition, sp2. Welcome any other suggestions. Clearly lots of folks having this problem. Ulead, any fix coming soon?

You do not need smart download for the boxed version, everything is contained on the two CD's.
The files you mention should go into the "All Users" account and not into seperate users accounts and so do not need to be copied.
I have Two users acounts on my machine and have no problems with the content with whichever users account I am logged onto.

Your new user account should NOT have admin privileges, it defeats the object of having a sperate user account.

You should log onto an administrator account to install new software.
Your normal day to day work on your computer should be done via a user account. This is to prevent problems with computer virus attacks when you are connected to the internet. It also has an advantage if other members of your family (especially children) access your computer so that you can control what they are doing with your machine.

Similar problem - need a different solution

Post by jmanlost »

I think that my problem is similar. I dont believe I have ever been able to see Video Filters in the library. If I click on a clip, I can't actually get to see any video filters - it is not available in the library manager drop down and in "attributes" there's not really anything I can do. Where are they?

I searched C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Video Studio 9\Smart Downloads .....but found no "Smart Downloads"

What now?

Hi Jmanlost,

I first have to ask, did you purchase the ESD (download) version and did you download the extra content?, or did you purchase the full boxed version?

Of course you have to install each one of them. Try doing a search on your computer for uvs9_content_pack, it's an exe file. If you can't find them, there should be 4 content packs, then they were not downloaded.

To download them, and don't try to use "smart download", go here:
