Add new font to PhotoImpact

Post by tnicotera »

I'm trying to add a new font to the software. I have the .otf file, I just don't know where to put it to display in the drop down of the fonts in PI.

Thank you.

I should say that I added to my Windows Font folder. Doesn't PI read off that folder too? If not, how do I get the font into PI directly?

You cannot put fonts directly into PI. It reads whatever fonts you have installed in your Windows system. So, if you've installed the font, you should be able to re-open PhotoImpact and see it there.

Another way you can use a font in PI and NOT install it is to open the font in your windows explorer. Minimize it and just leave it there. Open PHotoImpact and when you use the Text tool, the font will be on the list. It will remain there until you close the Font file. Many people use this method so they don't have to install a lot of fonts because each time you use the fonts in PI, it reads in ALL the fonts from your windows folder and that can be a major drain on your memory, especially if you don't have a lot.

still having trouble

Thank you for the tip. I see how that works. For some reason my PI doesn't list the .otf file. I noticed that it shows different than the ones that do show listed.

It's birchstd.TTF or birchstd.otf I am trying to see.

My PI doens't show any of the fonts that have the A in the thumb graphic.

I tried changing file name form .otf to .TTF but still it doesn't list it.
Thank you for any other insight.
