PhotoImpact Re-install

Post by Bertolet@msn.com »

I am in the process of restoring my system and have reinstalled PhotoImpact 11. I still have the hard drive with the old program files.

I had a complex view arrangement and need to import it into the new system. Can anybody tell me the file and location to import?

Thank you,

Bertolet,

I wonder if you got your answer !!

I have had to re-format my hard drive, I have my serial number and invoice with order number.

I have not been able to get an answer from Ulead or their company that does to download fullfillment and creates that horrible package to install.

I cannot work at all. I get no responses after I was told that I need the order number.

I sent them the order number as a copy and paste of the order from May 2005 in a new query, and NOTHING.

They have to have the strangest support priorities as well ans being the most paranoid company around. Customers are treated like thieves who want something for nothing.

Then they have their obnoxious apologists look to put down anyone with any frustrations about Ulead support.

I Really don't know more to do. I have spent hours on this and I just need a file to download. I have proven to have paid for it.

You did not mention the OS you are using. If it was XP, you could have used the Files and Setting Transfer Wizard to accomplish your task while still using the old drive.

Otherwise, you should transfer your Folders and files over to the new drive before you installed PI 11. If you do not follow that routine and install the old files over the new, you may overwrite the newer configuration files and lose some functionality.

However, here is how you accomplish that task. Note: Serial Numbers are not transferred during this process:

The Folders of concern are the C:\Documents and Settings/Application Data/Ulead Systems/Ulead PhotoImpact/11.0/Ulead.DAT … Ulead.DAT contains the Folder where all of your old Galleries and Libraries were stored.

I believe you are unduly upsetting yourself and others, and are not accomplishing anything of value. You seem to fail to understand that none of us work for ULEAD, we are as you and can only do so much. We cannot recover documents, Sales Invoices, Serial Numbers, or files. ALL of this you must get from TECH Support, they are your only source for your particular difficulties.

I will add:

If you have an install disc, uninstall ULEAD, delete the two Ulead Folders, and reinstall the product. If that does not work then your Registry is still holding the Keys that are not allowing your software to install. And, if you deleted everything and reinstalled all of your software over again and the same happened, then ask for a replacement disc.

If none of the above work and you cannot get ULEAD to work, then I ask if you are overclocking your motherboard? The other possibility is that you have a bad memory module that will not allow the correct transfer of data. If you test your memory and it is not bad then you should obtain a program that will do a complete non-destructive checksum read and write of every sector on your hard drive to insure you do not have bad Sectors. Especially, in the area where Ulead may try to install.

If you have done all of the above and possibly more, then you have exhausted all of our help on this Forum and there is nothing else we can do for you.

I consider this matter closed and will not reply again.

keenart, why are you upset

Post by jolo »

keenart,

I scanned your message and since I am not upset, I believe that you are unduly upsetting yourself. Certainly not me. I also would not be pretentious enough to speak for anyone else but me. My words, my experiences, my opinions, I represent only myself.

I can't image why others would upset, but I just wrote what is truthful in my experience. I don't need Ulead, although I have been a customer of Photoimpact for years.

Keenart , you also know nothing about the expiences I have with Ulead in the past. that I will not get into. I am not going to bring up other items.

For the life of me keenart, why would you be upset? I am not generalizing but giving accurate information of what I know and what I am experiencing.

I know I wouldn't read anything and invest my energy in anything that would get me upset, certainly not for some photo editing software.

I can tell you that I am a long time user and fan of the product and have been in a position to promote and recommend PhotoImpact to a lot of people and small businesses. I don't think it has a competitor at its price point in the market. I want Ulead Photoimpact to do very well and for more to be aware of the software.
But, it does sadden me that I have experienced a real downturn in the support area and doing some really odd things that I do not understand at all.

I believe when things do go they way the are anticipated to go can be looked at by an organization as an opportunity to really solidify customer loyalty ans satisfaction. I don't know what the reason is, but in their relations with me, I don't think they value customers they way I would like them to and therefore become more successful.

I think that I might have heard that Ulead sold Photoimpact? I don't mean to start a rumor, so I am not saying that this is factual, but it is something that I heard.

Hi Jolo,

I can tell you that Ulead does not sell PhotoImpact, it still owns the product. Nova Developement is a retailer and also a OEM customer of Ulead in US region only, so stop the rumer.

For the problem you have, please PM me with your problem and your e-mail address, I will see what I can do.

Best regards,

htchien,

I greatly appreciate your getting personnly involved, I really am flattered.

I promise you that I did not mean to start a rumor, it is just something that I heard, although I am glad I mentioned it so that you can put that rumor to bed.

Probably the best would be to send you a copy of the invoice as well as mention the registration code ? Is that okay?

I really appreciate your involvement and help.

I did find out before the Nova does the retail distribution for Photoimpact and that they will not sell anything, but a retail box, online. No downloads.

I did find that very confusing, especially when I coirresponded with a Nova rep who (no eggageration), told me that he has never seen or tried Ulead's Photoimpact and that there is no relation between the companies, as far as he knows. He then quoted me a nicely discounted price for it.

Did you make it work already !!

Post by jolo »

htchien,

I am going to assume that you already did some magic, because I have emails that have let me re-download Photoimpact 10 and I am downloading Photoimpact while I am writing this.

For whatever reason it was that my support mails didn't work is in the past and I want to thank you for personal concern and service that I won't forget.

Htchien, you actions have demonstrated a lot about you personally and your commitment to customers like myself.

I also learned that as a customer, that we are fortunate that you are around the forum to help us out.

I so much prefer to write positive messages than negative one. I can tell you that if I didn't give a cra* I wouldn't have wrote anything.

Thanks so much !! D :D :D :D

Actually it's what Ulead Tech Support did. Glad you've got helped.

There are some issues you might not get mails from Ulead Tech Support after you send the request to Ulead. Check http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... ght=#55276 for more info.

Have a nice day.

Thanks so much for your interest !!!

I really did all that I coould do in this situation, which was not a technical problem. I followed directions, included documentation, first send support emails to Ulead, then sent some to Ulead again and element 5.

It was funny, if it wasn't you htchien, it was someone who "heard me". I received more than one emails the day after you replied to me. The emails were identical. On my profile, the expiration date for downloads on Photoimact was extended and I could then download the software.

Also, the installation process was smoother than I remember before. I can tell you that, to make sure, I searched my registry, all file folders, temp file folders, windows, .ini files for any references to Photoimpact and removed anything that I found. Perfect fast, smooth downloading and installation.
Before installing I also ran a CHKDSK on my Windows hard drive, defragmented all my hard drives, removed all cookies, temporary and garbage files and any invalid links from my registry, cleared my index.dat files, rebooted my PC and stopped my anti-virus and any other background software from runnning. Does that sound overly neurotic and a bit "anal" ? :D I am a believer that upfront work is "longer in the short run and shorter in the long run".

I am delighted and now can focus on using Photoimpact. I thank you htchien for you interest and those at Ulead who fixed my issue.

Wow, someone was able to download Photoimpact again.

I can't find the email with the link with the download. Was it sent out with "ulead" in the send address?

Not that the link would work now 18 months later but one never knows, someone might work the sort of magic that they worked for jolo.

Dear sjj1805
Please stop posting that thread. It does not contain an answer to my satisfaction.

Dear Timtak,

Look at the date of Jolo's post, March 19, 2006. Ulead was still a corporation at that time. Ulead was acquired by Intervideo, which was acquired by Corel. So that link would not be any good now, besides those links provided by support are specific to that person only, and expire soon afterwards.

I think that since Steve is an Admin of this forum, he may post as he sees necessary. He's just trying to provide you with the best possible solution. Sometimes it may not be what you want to hear though..;)

In short, the only one that can provide you with a link to download the program is Corel now. Posting links to distribute the program, aside from trial versions, would be a violation of EULA, and we would have to remove it.
