In the modern world of large file/large format digital images it would sure be nice to have a batch convert option to select a series of files and then reduce their demensions and file size for reference or email purposes (example: take 100 or so 8mp 3456x2304 pixel 72dpi jpg images and batch covert them to 864x576 pixel 72dpi jpg files). Any idea if Photo Impact can do this?

Sorry I cannot be more specific about this at this point in time.
I'm at work
and have not done this myself, except for an exercise once when doing the PI beginners work shop.
I would head to the PIRC site http://www.pircnet.com/ and look for a relevant tutorial and also try the ULEAD learning center http://www.ulead.com/learning/pi.htm where you will find an excellent tut about creating a new task. If I remember correctly, you will need to create a new task in the 'Quick Command Panel' in PI and run this task on a batch of images.

Thanks for the leads... will search tonight and see what I find.
I do this all the time by using a task. I create a task, then use it to apply to all images in a given folder. Works like a charm!!
If you don't know how to create a task, try this tutorial at http://wwell.net/tutorials/pi10/qcpbasics/index.html . Once you create the task, you can use it many times over.

The Batch Manager tool is good for applying the same actions to multiple files. A tutorial is available here:
