Truncated DVDs

Post by Greggy »

Folks,

I'm following the prcoess recommended at the beginning of this forum to create a DVD of home movies.

On several of my DVD's, the last bit of video and audio is getting cut off. My files should be well within the available space (One disk image is 4.16 GB and about 3 minutes of video is getting cut off.) The total duration is just over an hour (about 65 minutes, 10 seconds.) sampled at 8000 kbs.

The rest of the disc works just great.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg

What is your pc’s filing system Fat 32 or Ntfs.

With Fat 32 there is a 4Gb file limit this may be causing your problem.
If this is the case either re-render the video file to 7000 kbps to reduce the file size below 4 Gb, or change your operating system to Ntfs

NTFS - burning using C: drive as cache?

Post by Greggy »

Trevor,

Great suggestion.

The disk my video files are on is formatted as NTFS.

However, if VS9 is creating any large temporary files on my C: drive as part of the process, it is formatted as FAT32.

Maybe I'll try changing VS9s working directory to my NTFS disk and see if that helps.

This reminds of another question, which I'll pose in another thread.

Thanks much,
Greg

Hi Greg

Video Studio 9 uses Two Working Folders.
The first for editing, and the second for the burning process.

From the burner window press the preferences icon lower left adjacent to the cogwheel.
You can allocate the working folder here.
