Newbie..PLEASE HELP! Can't fit project onto DVD..
I recorded a 2:48 minute movie from my VCR onto my hard drive using Hauppauge Win-TV PVR 150..I recorded with "DVD Extra Long Play" (1.2 Gigabytes /hour).. When I try to burn the movie onto a DVD using MovieFactory 3, the project is too large to fit on the disc. (the required space is 4.43, while the disc space is 4.38.. How can I get this movie onto a DVD? Is there anyway I can make the file smaller so that it will fit? HELP!

is that 2:48 minutes (2 minutes, 48 sec) or 2 hours, 48 minutes?
If the latter, then the disk may be too small for your project. Unfortunately, there is a lot of confusion out there concerning how much you can put on on CD or DVD. Regrettably, the suppliers of disks still refer to the duration of music or video which is totally confusing. You can fill a DVD with a bit over one hours worth of movie but could also record 2.5 hours or more onto the same disk.
What I'm trying to say here is this: Never mind how long your clip is, what counts is the file size in MB or GB. Your clip's bitrate in kbps x the duration determines the file size. Try not to go above 4.3 GB for a DVD -R/RW for good results.
The fact that you used super long play for recording your clip is meaningless in this context. For starters, DVD does not know short play or long play. These modes only had a meaning with tape. The slower the tape speed the longer a movie you could record on a tape of a given length. DVD plays at the same speed all the time.
