Why can't I install the downloaded component?

Post by hayatalain »

I've downloaded all the extra component on the ulead web site and I tried to install each of them but I couldn't and I got the following error message for all of them.

Setup cannot find Ulead Cool 3D Production Studio Version 1.0 installed on your system.
Please make sure Ulead Cool 3D Production Studio Version 1.0 is installed before running Setup again.

Anyone faced the same problem??
Or anyone have an idea what should I do??
plz help

Hi Hayatalain, welcome to the boards.. :)

First of all in order for us to help we are going to need some more information.
  1. Go to your Profiles Page and complete the System information.
  2. Please read this Post http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=8959
There are questions like:
  1. What is your operating system?
  2. Do you have more then 1 HDD?, if so:
  3. What Drive did you install to?
It seems that is looking for C:>Program Files>Ulead Systems>Ulead Cool 3D Production Studio, and you have it installed on some other drive....

Ok so we know that your installation is on the same HDD, and the component installer should find it.

I done a quick search of the forum on Windows Installer, as this seems to be a common issue, especially with Video Studio 9.
When you do Windows updates, it uses the Windows Installer to update your system. I think that Ulead products have a problem with Windows Installer version 3.0.

You can read this post for more information and a possible fix. However it address Video Studio 9. http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... er&start=0

You can get the current version of Windows Installer here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... layLang=en

To check to see what version of Windows Installer you have, go to Control Panel-->Add or Remove Programs. Then scroll down, to Windows Installer. It should be version 3.1..

You can uninstall it, the see if the component packs will install. However I would recommend downloading the installer from the above link to your desktop, before uninstalling. However if you do uninstall it, just going to Windows update, it will look for it, and if you don't have it, will prompt you to download and install.

Hope that helps...

OK, I've uninstalled Windows installer and tried to run the component packs and ended up with same problem :?

Than I uninstalled ULEAD COOL 3D STUDIO and reinstalled it in hope of it might solve the problem and tried again to run the component packs yet again the same problem.

Than I reinstalled Windows Installer and updated it to latest version 3.1 v2 and tried again to install the component packs yet no hope.

The only thing I've downloaded and was installed successfully is COOL 3D Production Studio update patch.

however, as long as the COOL 3D PS working fine am happy and I really love it, it's fun and easy.

I'll keep searching for a solution for that problem sooner or latter it'll be solved. :D :D

Thank you very, very, very much sir for your help appreciated.

Have you got the purchased version or the trial.
If you only have the trial then the extra components will not install.

If you have a purchased BOX version, then all the components are been installed already. That's why you cannot install the components because they are for online purchased ESD version only.

Hope this helps.
