Deleted what menu directory? Windows menu directory?u_no_fr wrote:Perhaps it is because I have deleted my menu directory
but what can I do ????
If you deleted the folder(s) containing the photos, they should be in the recycle bin, if you didn't empty the recycle bin. If so then just go into the recycle bin and select the folder(s) and choose restore. That will put them back where they were deleted from.
Now if you have your preferences set to check for Relinking, when you load your project and it prompts you to Relink, browse to where the photos are. Pay attention to the file name it is asking for. Go to that file, select it, then if it is successful, you should get a message that All Files have been relinked..
Regards..

I searched my entire hard drive for files with the extension *.upx and find none with that exension. DVDMF uses the extension *.upd which are Ulead Project Data files.u_no_fr wrote:Hi
but I vae deleted the *.upx
If you deleted the *.upd file for the project (which it looks that way) then you're not going to like my answer.......
- If you use WinXP, and System Restore then you might still have a chance. Restore your system to a time Before you deleted the file.
- Start from scratch and redo it again...

You can open the project file in a word editing program or "NotePad".
It's tricky, set word wrap ON.
Looking at the binary data you can find the locations of where the program
is looking for the picture files and recreate the directory structure on the harddrive again.
Don't save the project in Notepad or you will be sorry.
Make a backup copy of the project file first.
Open a bottle of Scotch before viewing binary files.

.UPX files are Ulead image files that can be opened in PhotoExpress. Usually it has a long filename with random characters. It is stored inside the MENU folder of the working directory of your project.
The .UPX in the Menu directory are the combined menu background, buttons and text of your DVD menu that DMF/DWS automatically generates. When you open this in PhotoExpress, you can move around the objects like what you can do with .UFOs on PhotoImpact. However, once you save the .UPX file, it loses the DVD menu information and will trigger the error "some files cannot be found..." (something to that effect).
The same thing will happen if you delete the .UPX files so never modify, move, or delete the UPX files.
Unfortunately I havent found a way to get around error message. The RELINKING message does not appear because it only applies to files that you added in the project.
