Exporting to DVD-VR (Video Recording) disc

Post by dc_reynolds »

I am fairly new to VS8. Using 8.01 on XP SP2. I was trying to export a movie back out to DVD-RW formated as a blank DVD-VR mode blank disc so that I could use the movie on my Pioneer DVR510 standalone dvd recorder (the only way video can be imported to it other than recapture via firewire). My computer seems to see the disc but the VS8 Export, DVD-VR wizard always complains when I try to add a mpg file to the disc that the format is incorrect. I formatted the disc on the DVR510 and assume that VS8 could add files to the disc. Has anyone had success doing this and can share some howto? Thanks

I also have the same problem with VS7.

Can anyone post the definitive way of editing a DVD-VR disk via VS7/8 and then exporting it back to the VR disk so that it is useable by DVR machines.

My DVR is also a Pioneer (520) and is -RW rather than +RW.

TIA

in the final burn screen you have a box which says DVD VR compliant. did you check this?

I have googled and used the VR capture plugin to import a DVD_RTAV directory - this worked OK and allows editing to be carried out.

I then tried to export (in edit area) and all I get now is a program crash even after reboots!

Assuming it worked, what will it export to?

Are you trying to copy files to a disk, or are you authoring?

I have given up on Videostudio, as MovieFactory did the job - convert mpegs into VRO filesets to be viewed/edited on my DVR.

Thanks.
