Working with RAW image files in PhotoImpact 11

I bought a Canon D5 digital SLR which lets me take pictures in *.raw format, although the extension of the Canon files is *.CR2. PhotoImpact 11 will show the thumbnail of the raw file, but when I try to open it, the image is black. Some sort of upgrade fix for this should be made available, as it seems like it is almost there. The software thinks the file is open, as the tools appear to be functional, but the image is black.

I have a Canon 20D which also uses the .CR2 extension for RAW files, and have no problem opening these in PI 11. A short tutorial is available here:

Same here, I have a Canon S45 compact digital and a Canon EOS 350D, bothe RAW formats are recognised and correctly opened by PI 11.

There must be something wrong with your installation. It could of course also be that the RAW format of the 5D is slightly different even though the file extension is the same.
