Who's software works? Lord knows this junk doesn't!

Post by oneadem »

Gang,

I just today bought the Movie Factory 4.0 package and it is utterly worthless it is so terribly flawed.

So fare I have experienced the following problems, none of whihc seems to be documented other than in these forums, and not a single solution suggested has made a difference.

1) I get a "Key Error" when I open the various creation functions (Like

Create Video DVD). Clicking the message kills the error message and the
function I selected opens, but what isn't working because of this key issue?

2) I can not import MPG files.

3) It won't recognize my Haupage WinTV DVR USB.

4) The driver patch for my Haupage doesn't recognize that I have Movie
Factory 4.0 installed on my PC. I tried the Ulead patch for my Haupage WIN TV USB but the patch installer says it can't find Movie Factory v4.0 which is absolutely there but as absolutely useless to me.

The ONLY reason I bought this software is because MF3SE was bundled with my Haupage and it worked. Now I read in this forum that it was all basically some kind of a come-on bu Ulead to wet our appetites so we'd consider buying 4.0.

It os preposterous to assume or even imagine that Ulead would have bundled the preding version with functionality it had no intention of supporting in upcoming versions. And there seems to be no mention of this lack of Haupage support on their specs and info page. To suggest that we as usesr should have considered that possibility is like saying we should assume that our new TV might not be designed to receive our local TV stations.

SO, HERE IS THE QUESTION:

What software has anyone bought that CAN do the job? I am not doing anything sophisticated, just want to burn video that I capture to DVD and add a few jazzy menus here and there. I don't even care if it is even near commercial grade -- I just want to view the stuff.

Thanks,

Bill

Be patient!

Hello, Oneadem,

I also met the "key error" problem. That was my "fault", if it was. I installed the DMF4.0 on Disc D (for some thought) rather than C. I suppose DMF4.0 takes it granted everybody install it automatically on C. After my un-installing and re-installing (better remove everything concerning Ulead DMF4 in Program File folder), the "key error" was gone. Hope this help.

By the way, why I select DMF4.0? I get the bundled software on my computer too, InterVideo is the name. It is a very user friendly, understandable program. Unfortunately, it could not handle the clips a little longer, it will freeze the image and only the audio sounding. It was very annoying for we loosing many valuble moments recorded in life. Afterthen, I bought DMF4.0. It is really not perfect, but I think is the best available for the moment.

Cheers!

Just for the record, all of my Ulead software (MF4, PS4, VS9 and PI 11) is installed on "D" and works fine. I'm glad you got past the problem but since many do not have room for programs of this size on the "C" partitian, "D" is generally an acceptable alternative.

Key Error

Post by oneadem »

I uninstalled and reinstalled but still get the Key Error every time I launch MF4. I even went so far as to do a XP Pro system restore to a time prior to all installations and then reinstalled -- same error.

The program does work, and I see no adverse effercts from this error yet, but it bugs me that it's there. And who knows whether there is some unseen problem that will pop up due to this error at just the wrong time.

If anyone has a fix I'd appreciate knowing. And as always, if I find a solution I will share it asap.

The solution in this link

http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... =key+error

was to reinstall MF4, select repair and then install the latest update.
