I am having trouble burning my DVD - can someone please help

The message is "The target device might have some problems. Please try again or reboot" (5213) I am using Movie Factory 3 and have successfully edited my captured videos and burned them but am getting the above message followed by - "Failed to record data to the disc. Error DVDR [14252:1:0] I am going crazy not to mention the pile of wasted DVD-R that I am using.

Have you applied the DVD MovieFactory 3.x patches?

Try to burn the dvd to your hard drive first (either the DVD Folders or the DVD Image). Then as a separate step, burn from the DVD Folders (or image file) to disc.

Have you checked your DVD drive to verify that it will support -R DVDs. I had a new drive installed at my office and never saw the packaging and had the same problem you describe. It turns out that my drive supported DVD+R, not DVD-R. Made the change in media and it took care of the problem.
