If this helps,
First, in VS under "Preferences" (F6 key). Change the the drop-down
box to preview only. Not Dual-Head or the other choices.
I'm not familiar with that video card but a few things cause that to also
happen on many computers running capturing software when:
You are running dual-head display setup (2 monitors). (Change to single-head).
The TV output port is activated under the "Video Properties".
You have options on the video card drivers that affect the TV output
on the secondary display such as full screen/windowed etc.
That is commonly called "Video Overlay" options.
Another program is accessing the TV capture device.
Before starting VS have the video card setup for single display
and don't have anything special setup for the TV out.
(Disconnect the TV out port from the TV, the hardware auto-detects
the load of the TV and will activate the hardware chipset port as active).
Usually capture devices target the Primary Display.
Like with any video card there are work arounds and you have to
find the correct combination with that video card.
I'm sure many people have come across when you output to TV or
the 2nd monitor and the window is black (blank). You can hear the
audio but not see the video. The hardware chips cannot direct the
overlay onto the Secondard device in windowed mode usually.
Usually the Seconday device must be set to "Full Screen".
The default preview mode in VS is "Dual-Head". If the 2nd monitor is
active and video overlay is NOT set for full-screen usually you cannot
capture in VS or many video programs.
First check your video overlay options under "Advanced Features" for
the video card and before capturing with VS change from "Dual-Head"
preview to the single mode "Preview Only" (Primary Display).
In this persons case if he doesn't have a 2nd computer monitor he
may still be running dual-head because the TV out is active.
Hope this helps,
MD
