Using MSP6 with DVD Factory 4

Post by ftf »

Hi, I am looking fora bit of help in trying to get the best results from what software I already own.

I have been happily using and exporting from MSP 6 but have never been happy with the Ligos MPEG encoder, so used a product called TMPEGenc.

Recently I have purchased DVD Moviefactoy 4 which I am pleased with and I was hoping to import files in MPEG2 format and then edit with MSP 6.

I have tried this but I get a message telling me that the Video file may be protected?

If there is a codec or a plug in available I would be happy to purchase, but I feel no need for upgrades as I am perfectly happy with my present software.

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

Let me try and get this straight. You are trying to import a DVD file as an MPEG-2 and it is telling you it is protected? Commercial DVDs are copy-protected and it is a policy of these forums not to tell users how to overcome the protection, as this may be illegal. I'm sorry if I've misinterpreted you; if so, please correct me and I'll try to sort you out.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Sorry for the confusion, no, I am capturing DV footage from a Sony PC 900 Camcorder into DVD movie Factory, then importing it to MSP 6.

The problem is that in doing so it gives me the error message.

However just as a thought, I also have a stand alone Panasonic DVD RAM recorder which I can record direct from the camera and then import into DVD Movie Factory, and it would be a big bonus if I could again use MSP 6.

Back to basics. Please update your system details on your profile page.
Please explain how you are importing the files from your Sony camcorder.
Why are you importing as MPEG and not AVI.

A search of this forum will explain the reason why it is frowned upon to edit MPEG files.

I'm sorry, but I have a feeling you are trying to break a stick over your own back. If I remember correctly, MSP6.0 does not support DV editing fully. I think 6.5 was the first version to do so. However, I don't think that upgrades are still available, although you could go the whole hog and upgrade to MSP8 at a special price (which I STRONGLY recommend). Alternatively, if money is tight, try VS9 but you are not eligible for an upgrade version (100 bucks will get it for you though)

Thanks for the advice from all, it seems that the answer is that I will have spend some more cash, or go back to importing as AVI and then spend hours rendering, which then does not seem to give me the same results as using the DVD Moive Factory basic editing program.
