fit and burn error VS9

Post by crip »

recently upgraded from VS 8 to VS 9. Fit and Burn errors out. First error box is "Failed to reuse converted cache file ! (4570)" Second box is "Unspecified error. Report ID: 0x800411da(4570)" Anyone got a clue?

crip,

I personally haven't run across this error, however, I do remember that there is a checkbox for Clear Cache under Preferences during the Create Disk process. Go to Share, Create Disk, and press F6 and you'll see it. Is it selected or deselected? That may be your problem. Also are you trying to Fit and Burn? And, are you using the Recommended Procedures as laid out by http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=27?

Ron,

Thanks for the advice. the cache box was checked, I cleared it, tried the Fit and Burn option again, no joy...same result. Good idea though. Instead of Fit and Burn, I'm going to change the MPEG settings thru Preferences and see what happens. Can't do it now, but when I get time, I'll let you know the results.

Thanks again!!

crip,

If you're using the Recommended Procedures then instead of Fit and Burn I recommend that you use a bitrate calculator to determine the bitrate for your video. A good one that I've used frequently is at http://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm.

Hope this helps,

Failed to use Converted cache file 4570

Post by RJP1952 »

Similarly, I got same messages while trying to burn a dvd, after upgrading from 7 to 9. I also tried Disabling the "write behind caching" to no avail.
Although, the first time i ran it on 9, and before removing 7, I successfully burned a dvd. After removing 7, trying to burn the same DVD, I have had this problem.

Cache error

PS to previous note: When I got this error, I was using Video Studio Editor, and used the "burn" control, not the "fit and burn" I think I was following best practices approach.

The problem is repeatable. Since the software didn't work on my computer, I used another, loaded V7, then the V9 upgrade. I was able to generate 6 o 7 dvds from my wmv file on V9. Then to test the hypothisis, I uninstalled V7 and tried to gen a dvd. I got the Cache error statement. "Failed to reuse converted cache file ! (4570)" Second box is "Unspecified error. Report ID: 0x800411da(4570)" I have to conclude that the uninstall is uninstalling things it shouldnt. I also noted that after uninstalling 7, the number of title options was reduced. Again this makes me think that uninstalling 7 does more than it should.
I have installed v7 back on my pc, and tried running but still getting the problem. I intend to try to un install both versions and then reinstall them to see what happens.
(BTW - I have uninstalled both v7 and v9 from the other computer)

It is known that uninstalling VS8 after you have installed VS9, can remove certain files required by VS 9. I guess the same may happen when you uninstall VS 7. The remedy seems to be to do a Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Repair, if you have the full boxed version of VS9, or else a full reinstall if you have the downloaded version

I have uninstalled both 7 and 9 upgrade, reinstalled them and have had one successful production. I think I am back on the road again.
