TOO MUCH! What product to use?

I own VideoStudio 7 and I like it for editing. However, I now have a TiVo/DVD-writer box and I want to be able to edit movies it saves. VS7 will not import DVD video, so I upgraded from MovieFactory 2 to MovieFactory 3 Disc Creator, which does a good job of pulling the video, but won't write a file that I can edit. I downloaded the trial version of Video Toolbox 2, but it can't handle Dolby AC-3 without a $30 plugin. IT'S TOO MUCH! I already spent $65 to upgrade MovieFactory, and I'm looking at another $60 for Video Toolbox, not to mention possibly upgrading VS7 (if it supports hyperthreading). And, even if I did all of that, I'd still be stuck with a multi-program situation for what should be a relatively simple job. Can one Ulead program handle it? If not, any suggestions? Thanks!

Did you know that most of the time you can rename .vob files to .mpeg, then load them into vs7 and edit them?

Well VideoStudio 7 certainly can import video direct from a DVD - but cannot handle AC-3 at all, I would have thought your cheapest option would have been to upgrade to UVS version 8 (which also imports DVD direct) and add the AC-3 Dolby Digital plug-in. then you could import from DVD - edit - create menus - and burn DVD all in one programme.
